John Ronan

“I am honored to be chosen to assist the Poetry Foundation in their vision of a home for poetry," said John Ronan in September 2007. "The project is unlimited in its potential because there exists no model for what the Poetry Foundation is trying to create. I look forward to the challenge.”

The Poetry Foundation's board of trustees unanimously selected John Ronan Architects from among eighteen firms who applied to design the project. Ronan, known for his Chicago institutional projects Gary Comer Youth Center and Christ the King Jesuit College Preparatory School, conceived the design of the new LEED Silver Level Poetry Foundation building to "engage the public’s curiosity and unfold in stages."John Ronan

Ronan received a Master of Architecture with Distinction from Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. Chicago architecture critic Lynn Becker has called Ronan "one of Chicago's best architects." The lead designer and founding principal of John Ronan Architects, he is also an associate professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology's College of Architecture.
